OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

This role involves advanced technical duties focused on the design, implementation, upkeep, and evaluation of controlled traffic systems to guarantee optimal performance of signal and lighting infrastructures.

Reports to the Engineering Projects Administrator.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee and manage the performance of assigned personnel, including task prioritization, work allocation, performance assessments, and employee relations.

Act as the primary authority on all electronic systems and configurations associated with controlled traffic intersections.

Ensure compliance of all electronic systems and components with the National Electrical Code and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); conduct inspections, calibrations, and repairs on equipment and wiring at automated traffic intersections.

Uphold the safety of municipal equipment, private property, and individuals by adhering to established safety protocols, monitoring for overhead utility lines, and checking for traffic and underground utilities; perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on systems; identify and report any equipment issues; clean equipment as necessary.

Engage in administrative tasks including maintaining records of work order completions, drafting correspondence, verifying time sheets, and other necessary administrative functions.

Assist in the procurement and management of equipment and supply inventories.
Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Requires an Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology along with 5 years of relevant experience, including 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Completion of a recognized related apprenticeship program may substitute for up to one year of experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Must achieve satisfactory results from a medical evaluation; undergo pre-employment substance abuse testing and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing.

It is crucial to include all relevant work history, education, and applicable volunteer experience in the application when applying.
