Position Overview

The Patient Admission Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth and organized admission process for patients requiring inpatient care and those undergoing outpatient testing or procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the collection of essential patient information while educating patients about hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conduct interviews with incoming patients or their representatives, accurately entering necessary data into the hospital's computer system.
  • Disseminate relevant information to various ancillary departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (additional languages are advantageous).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and analytical abilities for handling numerical data and various situations.
  • Typing skills of at least 40 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with medical billing, managed care, and other healthcare insurance processes.
  • Prior office experience or training, particularly in a medical environment, along with customer service experience.
  • An Associate Degree in business or a related field is preferred.
