PRIMARY OBJECTIVE


The primary aim of this role is to strategize and oversee the bakery division to enhance sales performance, achieve profitability targets, manage labor efficiency, and ensure a delightful shopping experience for customers, alongside fostering a safe and supportive workplace for team members.

NATURE AND SCOPE


This position focuses on continuous planning, execution, and assessment of departmental activities to maximize sales and profit potential, enforce effective cost management, optimize labor utilization, and uphold high standards of customer service.

The main challenge lies in consistently meeting or surpassing departmental profit and labor benchmarks.
This role guarantees the consistent quality, freshness, and diversity of bakery offerings.

It is essential to provide comprehensive training, development, and guidance to bakery staff, encouraging both individual and collective efforts towards departmental goals.

This position necessitates regular customer engagement, delivering prompt and courteous service, knowledge of food preparation protocols, food safety regulations, sound judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to perform various physical tasks including moderate to heavy lifting, walking, and operating bakery equipment.

Work functions and hours may fluctuate based on business requirements.
Responsibilities and direction are provided by the Store Director or designated authority.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

  • Assist customers and ensure high service standards and courtesy from all team members
  • Welcome customers

  • Respond to customer inquiries; provide product samples and suggestive selling
  • Handle bakery phone calls promptly

  • Develop effective daily and weekly operational plans based on sales forecasts, budgeted labor goals, and historical performance
  • Analyze sales and labor forecasts
  • Plan promotional activities and seasonal displays

  • Establish work priorities and create production schedules to maintain optimal department conditions

  • Collaborate with suppliers on approved space allocation, displays, and product quality assurance

  • Assist with stocking, display construction, and resets
  • Perform baking and food preparation as required
  • Plan and execute seasonal promotions and decorate the department for holidays.

  • Process invoices accurately and promptly, verify credits and transfer slips for correctness, and reconcile purchase journals against receiving records
  • Code date products and remove outdated or unfit items
  • Maintain and submit weekly stale reports
  • Review gross profit reports weekly against receiving records, invoices, and other store comparisons
  • Conduct and document accurate inventory counts
  • Collaborate with pricing to ensure signage and systems reflect accurate prices and monitor price-sensitive items in the market
