Job Overview

Position: Office Support Specialist

We are seeking a committed Office Support Specialist to become a part of our team at Progressive Life Center, Inc. (PLC). As a Black-led organization, PLC is dedicated to providing culturally-sensitive human services to children, youth, and families in the District of Columbia and surrounding areas. With over two decades of experience and accreditation from the Council on Accreditation, PLC is devoted to delivering exceptional service.

Program Insight

Join our Foster Care initiative, where you will contribute significantly to delivering comprehensive services to children in need. From temporary placements to permanent homes, you will be an integral part of a compassionate team focused on the welfare of each child.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Directors and foster care personnel with administrative duties
  • Manage phone coverage and act as the primary contact for foster parent assistance
  • Maintain effective communication with foster parents and referral sources
  • Support scheduling and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Facilitate program-wide communication and ensure compliance with accreditation standards
  • Assist with data entry, document preparation, and meeting organization
  • Oversee office operations and provide support as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in business administration/management or human services
  • Prior experience in administrative support
  • Ability to engage with diverse backgrounds and responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Physical Requirements

  • Remain stationary for 50% of the time, with occasional movement around the office
  • Operate office equipment and perform physical tasks as necessary
