Position Summary:


As a Junior Mechanical Systems Engineer within the Electro-mechanical Instrument Group, the selected candidate will engage in the design analysis, integration, and testing of high-precision electro-magnetic and electro-mechanical devices and systems.

A foundational understanding of electro-mechanical systems and control electronics is expected, along with experience in mechanical design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Familiarity with optical displacement sensing technologies is also advantageous.

The candidate should be adept at collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and possess the communication skills necessary to effectively brief both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes fundamental technical knowledge to address well-defined challenges and actively seeks opportunities to enhance technical skills.
  • Evaluates requirements and develops precision instruments with appropriate guidance.
  • Designs experiments and experimental apparatus to validate viable and optimal design concepts.
  • Works collaboratively with fellow engineers to design and develop both prototype and production hardware tailored to application needs.
  • Partners with other departments to integrate precision instruments into larger systems, ensuring performance metrics are met.
  • Establishes initial processes for the fabrication of custom-designed instruments.
  • Prepares and presents formal technical documentation, reports, and testing outcomes to management for approval.
  • Conducts training sessions related to devices for employees, subcontractors, and/or clients.
  • Engages in basic independent research and seeks assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Contributes to technical reports and presentations with appropriate supervision.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Comprehension of the design, development, and application of various instruments.
  • Familiarity with the processes involved in the fabrication of precision instrument hardware.
  • Solid understanding of applied mathematics and physics.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in general modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, CAD software, FEA software, and/or other relevant design and analysis tools.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is required; a Master's or PhD is preferred.

Experience:
0-3 years of experience in Hardware Instrument Engineering or a related field is required.
