Position Overview

The Postdoctoral Researcher in the Mechanical Engineering department will be instrumental in enhancing the development of cutting-edge bio-interfaces and biopsy methodologies, specifically aimed at the early identification of ovarian cancer. This role involves engaging in a variety of projects that focus on the creation of advanced surface- and fluidic-based devices designed to capture cells from human organs, particularly from the fallopian tubes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop novel cell capture methodologies and assess their effects on cell viability and various biological markers.
  • Translate research findings into practical clinical applications.
  • Investigate the mechanobiology of these systems and analyze the bio-physicochemical properties of tissues and captured cells to identify potential biomarkers.
  • Contribute significantly to scientific conferences and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications
Required:
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Experience in biomaterial synthesis, fabrication, and functionalization.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D cell culture techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex biological data.
  • Familiarity with microscopy and imaging techniques.
  • Experience in medical devices, cancer biology, or related fields, including animal models.
