Position Overview: The Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing specific projects within the organization. This role involves planning, budgeting, and documenting all aspects of the assigned projects. The Superintendent collaborates closely with upper management to ensure that project scope and direction remain on schedule and within budgetary constraints, while also coordinating with other personnel for support. This position reports directly to the Regional Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop, and maintain execution plans for assigned projects, ensuring close support to clients.
  • Consider the needs of various departments and resources to fulfill project requirements.
  • Authorize purchases and expenditures related to projects.
  • Achieve margin targets for all projects.
  • Monitor project expenditures against revenue.
  • Develop and oversee project timelines.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout and following project completion.
  • Create detailed project work plans with input from relevant departments and adjust as necessary.
  • Identify required resources and delegate responsibilities to team members.
  • Prepare and distribute project budgets to relevant departments.
  • Conduct pre-job meetings with project staff to clarify scope and requirements for effective project management.
  • Manage daily project operations through regular meetings.
  • Investigate discrepancies in labor and revenue projections to mitigate risks and identify potential revenue sources.
  • Conduct performance reviews with relevant departments to establish standards for future projects.
  • Follow up with clients to assess satisfaction levels.
  • Monitor individual performance and provide guidance, training, and support to team members.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ship repair or fabrication.
  • Ability to obtain necessary credentials for access to facilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ABS Classification guidelines, USCG, NAVSEA, and SOLAS requirements.

Working Environment:

  • Work may be conducted in open-air conditions, including noisy and extreme temperatures, as well as in a controlled office environment.
  • Site visits may include working aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore, and in confined spaces.
  • Personal protective equipment is required in certain situations.
  • Physical demands may include standing, bending, crouching, and climbing.
  • Some lifting and climbing may be necessary.
  • Travel may be required occasionally.
