Responsibilities and Duties

KCI is seeking a driven Engineer-in-Training to join our Site/Civil team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct civil engineering design and calculations for site grading, erosion and sediment control, as well as water, wastewater, and stormwater components of land development projects.
  • Engage in technical studies, AutoCAD-based design, and the preparation of specifications and technical plans.
  • Manage permitting applications and processing.
  • Provide construction administration support, including field observation reports.
  • Develop project cost estimates and schedules.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • EIT certification is required or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • Strong technical and professional communication skills.
  • Excellent time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required; relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience is required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete the Annual Individual Training Program.
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence.
  • Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Ensure projects meet ISO compliance requirements.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Achieve or exceed individual utilization targets (typically 80-85%).
  • Attend regular meetings with project teams on all assignments.
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting project scope.
  • Collaborate with other practices and sub-consultants as necessary.
  • Operate within specified budget parameters.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary data, including measurements and notes.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for review.
  • Develop preliminary concept designs for approval.
  • Interpret technical documents essential for job performance.
  • Review and approve shop drawings.
