Responsibilities

We are seeking a Lead Survey Project Coordinator to enhance our team.

  • Candidates should have a strong desire to cultivate client relationships, promote engineering and surveying services, and effectively manage personnel.
  • Oversee the planning, direction, and coordination of operations, including project managers, survey staff, technicians, and field operations.
  • Manage overarching contracts, including fee estimation, project initiation, and execution of tasks.
  • Develop work plans, assemble project teams, delegate responsibilities, and ensure adherence to project scope and timelines.
  • Prepare client invoices, deliverables, and project-related communications.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and financial success of assigned projects.
  • Engage in business development by nurturing relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Proficiently prepare proposals, cost estimates, plats, legal descriptions, sketches, roadway databases, topographic surveys, and compute survey data.
  • Assist in evaluating the performance of project team members through Project Staff Reviews.
  • Communicate significant performance issues to team members and leadership to facilitate appropriate actions.

Position Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a SC Licensed Professional Land Surveyor designation. Additional state survey registrations are advantageous.
  • Experience with the North Carolina Department of Transportation is required.
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software is essential.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Business Center, Microstation, Geopack, and OpenRoads software is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of years of professional experience is necessary.
  • Relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based on the position.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete the Annual Individual Training Program.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members.
  • Ensure adequate backup personnel are trained to support your role during absences.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships by soliciting feedback, identifying needs, and recognizing future project opportunities.
  • Adhere to all KCI policies and procedures.
  • Ensure project compliance with ISO standards.
  • Manage the workflow of all assigned staff and delegate tasks as necessary.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to the development of project-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
  • Report monthly proposal outcomes to the operations manager.
  • Achieve or exceed individual utilization targets (typically 75%-80%).
  • Participate in regular meetings with project teams to discuss all projects/tasks.
  • Track and report project performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with other practices and sub-consultants as needed.
  • Deliver all projects on schedule and within budget while fully meeting project scope.
  • Ensure effective utilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with project analysts to review project invoices.
  • Meet monthly with practice leaders to evaluate project performance.
  • Operate within established budget parameters.
  • Prepare and submit monthly project completion reports.
  • Draft interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as necessary.
  • Generate monthly progress reports for all projects.
  • Develop monthly project staff utilization plans.
  • Propose and negotiate project scope, schedule, and fee estimates.
  • Provide bi-weekly updates on project completion status to project assistants.
  • Share monthly project updates with practice leaders.
  • Offer monthly comments on Work in Progress/Accounts Receivable to the operations manager.
  • Provide technical oversight for projects and staff.
  • Submit weekly budget data for new projects to practice leaders.
  • Serve as project or task manager for select initiatives.
  • Compare field data with design plans.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary data, including measurements, sketches, notes, and photographs.
  • Prepare preliminary design concepts for approval.
  • Interpret technical documents required for project execution.
