Position Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Coding Specialist responsible for evaluating physician documentation and ensuring accurate coding in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10-CM.

FRONT END CODER:


This role is crucial for charge capture performance, managing TES edits, preventing denials, and undertaking special projects to maximize departmental revenue.


The coder should possess near-expert knowledge in Evaluation & Management coding, be prepared to provide cross-coverage across similar specialties, and assist in the training of junior coders.


Responsibilities in the revenue cycle include daily tasks that support service capture, procedure coding, management of patient financial information, and revenue collection for patient services.


This position will also mentor junior coders and serve as a coding resource during peak times.


Involvement in targeted audits and regular collaboration with physicians and clinical providers is expected.


CODING DENIALS SPECIALIST:


This position primarily focuses on reviewing and resolving daily coding-related denials in accordance with coding and billing guidelines.


The role includes edit maintenance, denial resolution, charge corrections, and special projects aimed at enhancing revenue collections for the department.


Researching and resolving outstanding coding-related denials promptly and accurately is essential.


The specialist will communicate denial trends and increases to management to positively influence denial volumes.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

A coding certification from a nationally recognized organization (such as AAPC or AHIMA) is required: CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.

Two years of professional coding experience in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10-CM is necessary.

Preferred coding certification in an outpatient specialty.

Completion of the internal CDP program is preferred.

Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is required.

Experience with GE Centricity is preferred.

Understanding of modifiers and their appropriate application is necessary.

Familiarity with billing regulations, insurance coverage limitations, and managed care is essential.

Preferred knowledge includes:
Introduction to research, Medicare guidelines, billing requirements, medical devices, professional medical society websites, and NCCI edit conventions.
