Position Overview:

The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking skilled individuals to fill roles within the Highway Operations Technician series. This series is dedicated to ensuring a safe and effective transportation network for the public while maintaining a courteous and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Highway Operations Worker: $ Grade 14
    Entry-level position focusing on the operation of vehicles and equipment, maintenance of pavements, and landscape preservation.
  • Highway Operations Tech 1: $ Grade 17
    Apprentice role where individuals will receive training in advanced operational duties including vehicle operation and environmental compliance.
  • Highway Operations Tech 2: $ Grade 18
    Intermediate level position responsible for a wide range of highway operational tasks and potential leadership duties.
  • Highway Operations Tech 3: $ Grade 19
    Advanced role with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring high-level operational tasks are completed effectively.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess relevant experience in roadway operations, including but not limited to:

  • Operation of motorized vehicles and heavy-duty equipment.
  • Maintenance of roadways, including signing and striping.
  • Environmental compliance and landscape care.

Licensing Requirements:

All candidates must obtain the necessary Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and endorsements as required for their respective positions.

Work Environment:

Positions may require responding to emergency situations, working in varying weather conditions, and lifting/carrying weights up to 50 lbs.
