Position Summary:
This role encompasses a variety of technical responsibilities aimed at ensuring the availability of surgical supplies and equipment while maintaining a sterile environment during operative procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in executing room turnovers in line with established protocols and departmental standards as part of the surgical team.
- Engage in various surgical cases by supporting surgeons in the operating field, which includes:
- Preparing and organizing the operating room for surgical interventions, ensuring sterile areas, instruments, and equipment are set up according to established protocols and physician preferences.
- Handling and maintaining surgical instruments to prevent damage and ensure functionality.
- Reviewing patient and procedure requirements to assess necessary setups, equipment, and supply needs.
- Communicating effectively with the surgical team to ensure comprehensive preparedness.
- Seeking guidance for performing or assisting with procedures as needed based on personal expertise.
- Managing and labeling all surgical specimens accurately.
- Contributing to the update and maintenance of physician preference cards.
- Preparing cases prior to procedures.
