Go METRO Accessible Transportation Operator Compensation:
The starting wage for Accessible Transportation Operators is $17.89 per hour.

Wages will increase based on hours worked, reaching a maximum of $25.56 per hour.

New hires are eligible for a $2000 signing bonus, subject to applicable taxes, distributed in two payments.

Go METRO is looking for Accessible Transportation Operators to ensure safe, dependable, and efficient transport for our customers with disabilities.

A Commercial Driver's License is not required for this position.

Ideal candidates for the Accessible Transportation Operator role will possess strong multitasking abilities, the capability to operate our vehicle, collect fares, drive safely, and deliver exceptional customer service to our passengers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate passenger vehicles on demand as scheduled.
  • Conduct pre and post-trip inspections to identify and report safety or maintenance issues.
  • Adhere to safe operating practices at all times.
  • Utilize wheelchair and scooter lifts as necessary; securely fasten mobility aids properly.
  • Respond to passenger inquiries and requests, providing accurate information and managing any disorderly behavior.
  • Document and record essential trip details as required.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities in boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
  • Manually collect fare media, cash, and/or assist with electronic fare applications.
  • Report mechanical issues, accidents, road hazards, and any injuries to dispatch, supervisors, or maintenance staff.
  • Utilize a two-way radio as needed.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and ongoing training sessions.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service consistently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must be at least 21 years old at the time of hire.
  • Experience driving large vehicles is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.

  • Must be able to read maps.
  • Less than 4 points on driving record.
  • No driver's license suspensions in the last 7 years.
  • Must pass background checks, Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations, and Drug/Alcohol testing.
  • Must successfully complete Customer Service and Safety assessments.
  • Exemplary problem-solving and customer service skills are essential.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk short distances (F).
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving (C).
  • Handling and fingering as necessary to operate the passenger vehicle (C).
  • Reaching outward with arms or legs for vehicle operation (C).
  • Occasional reaching above shoulder height for vehicle operation (O).
  • Climbing stairs on and off the bus (O).
  • Squatting or kneeling to secure mobility aids when necessary (F).
  • Bending to secure mobility aids when necessary (F).
  • Pushing/pulling mobility aids when necessary (O).
  • Standing (O).

O (Occasionally) - Activity required up to 33% of the time (0 – 2.5 hrs/day).

F (Frequently) - Activity required from 33% - 66% of the time (2.5 – 5.5 hrs/day).
