Position: Access Driver
Compensation: Initial pay for Access Drivers starts at $17.89 per hour, with potential increases based on hours worked, reaching a maximum rate of $25.56 per hour. New hires may qualify for a $2000 signing bonus, subject to applicable taxes, distributed in two payments.

Go METRO is in search of Access Drivers to deliver safe, dependable, and effective transportation services for individuals with disabilities. A Commercial Driver's License is not a requirement for this position. Ideal candidates will possess strong multitasking abilities, ensuring safe operation of the bus, fare collection, defensive driving, and outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive passenger coach as scheduled, responding to demand.
- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections to identify and report safety or maintenance issues.
- Adhere to safe driving practices at all times.
- Operate wheelchair and scooter lifts as necessary; ensure proper securing of mobility aids.
- Address passenger inquiries and requests, providing accurate information and managing unruly behavior appropriately.
- Document essential trip details as required.
- Assist passengers with disabilities in boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
- Collect fare media, cash, and/or assist with electronic fare applications.
- Report mechanical issues, accidents, road hazards, and any injuries to dispatch or supervisory personnel.
- Utilize a two-way radio as needed.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and ongoing training sessions.
- Deliver exemplary customer service consistently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum age of 21 at the time of hiring.
- Preferred experience in driving large vehicles, though not mandatory.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Customer-focused with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated and innovative, committed to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates professional integrity and accountability.
- Able to multitask effectively.
- Must be able to read maps accurately.
- Driving record with fewer than 4 points.
- No driver's license suspensions in the past 7 years.
- Must successfully pass a background check, Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, and drug/alcohol testing.
- Must pass customer service and safety assessments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk short distances (F).
- Capability to sit for extended periods while driving (C).
- Manual dexterity for operating the passenger coach (C).
- Reach outward with arms or legs for vehicle operation (C).
- Occasional reaching above shoulder height when necessary (O).
- Ability to climb stairs on and off the bus (O).
- Squatting or kneeling to secure mobility aids when necessary (F).
- Bending to secure mobility aids when necessary (F).
- Occasional pushing/pulling of mobility aids (O).
- Ability to stand as required (O).
