We are currently seeking a highly qualified Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to our projects.

In this role, you will be instrumental in managing post-award projects within the Planning Design and Construction Branch of the Facilities and Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD). Your responsibilities will include overseeing the design-build and design-bid-build electrical projects of varying complexities, including the construction of substantial electrical power facilities and associated infrastructure, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced electrical engineering expertise to uphold contract quality standards.
  • Implement and adhere to relevant electrical engineering codes, including the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Conduct site visits to ensure construction aligns with contract requirements, design specifications, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in various project meetings, including kickoff and quality control sessions.
  • Assist in the review and approval of technical and administrative submissions from contractors.
  • Interpret design criteria and collaborate with government representatives.
  • Review project drawings to confirm compliance with engineering standards and applicable regulations.
  • Analyze contract documents to clarify contractor responsibilities.
  • Provide solutions for discrepancies in design interpretations.
  • Support the Public Works Department with technical assistance regarding contract interpretations and claims.
  • Conduct field investigations to resolve design-related issues during construction.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of critical systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Verify the accuracy of project documentation and assist in final acceptance recommendations.
  • Monitor updates to as-built drawings and ensure timely completion.
  • Review Operation and Maintenance Support Information (OMSI) Manuals for completeness.
  • Assist in responding to requests for information (RFI) from contractors.
  • Maintain organized construction contract documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering from a recognized U.S. authority.
  • U.S. Passport holder.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design, particularly for government construction projects.
  • Certification in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods and principles relevant to multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor construction environments.
