Position Overview:

The Electrical Design Engineer will play a crucial role in overseeing various electrical projects, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and safety standards. Responsibilities include managing design-build and design-bid-build projects, which may involve complex systems such as electrical power plants and support facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced electrical engineering knowledge to uphold contract quality standards.
  • Enforce relevant electrical engineering codes and standards, including National Electric Code (NEC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
  • Conduct site visits to verify construction adherence to design and safety requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Review and approve technical submittals and assist in project documentation.
  • Interpret design criteria and provide guidance to project teams.
  • Evaluate project drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Analyze contract documents to clarify contractor responsibilities.
  • Recommend solutions for design-related issues and provide technical support as needed.
  • Conduct field investigations to resolve construction challenges.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist in the verification of project documentation and ensure accuracy of as-built drawings.
  • Provide technical assistance in response to contractor inquiries.
  • Maintain organized project documentation in compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering from a recognized authority.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in electrical design, particularly within government or defense sectors.
  • Certification in National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and on active construction sites.
