We are currently seeking a highly qualified Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to our projects.

Role Overview:

The Electrical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting post-award projects within the Planning Design and Construction Branch of the Facilities and Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD). This position involves overseeing various electrical projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize extensive electrical engineering and construction expertise to uphold contract quality standards.
  • Implement and enforce relevant electrical engineering codes, including National Electric Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
  • Conduct site visits to ensure construction aligns with design specifications and quality requirements.
  • Participate in various project meetings to facilitate communication and project progression.
  • Assist in the review and approval of technical and administrative submissions from contractors.
  • Interpret design criteria and collaborate with government representatives.
  • Review and analyze project drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Recommend solutions for discrepancies in design interpretations.
  • Provide technical support regarding contract interpretations and contractor claims.
  • Conduct field investigations to resolve design-related issues during construction.
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of critical systems in accordance with established standards.
  • Assist in the verification of project documentation and ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Maintain organized construction contract document files as per industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering from a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly in government construction projects.
  • Certification in National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in active construction environments.
