About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Community Banker I to join our team at Simmons Bank. As a key member of our commercial lending team, you will be responsible for acquiring, growing, and retaining commercial, 1 to 4 family residential, and consumer loans, as well as cross-selling our other business lines in community markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Relationship Building: Sell prospects and customers through relational selling in a trusted advisor role, assisting them in recognizing opportunities and risks while helping them achieve their goals through our products and services.
  • Credit Analysis and Decision Making: Establish and negotiate the terms under which commercial credit will be extended, including cost, risk, and profitability, determining the method, schedule, and collateral requirements.
  • Financial Analysis and Review: Review and analyze financial information to determine a customer's creditworthiness.
  • Loan Committee Presentations: Present recommendations to the loan committee and demonstrate a deep understanding of credits presented.
  • Portfolio Management: Be responsible for the profitability of all commercial relationships within your portfolio.
  • Loan Repayment and Collection: Monitor loan repayment activities, collect past due accounts, and address credit and collateral deficiencies.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Adhere to loan policies and procedures, maintaining complete and documented files to ensure satisfactory reviews from internal and external audits.
  • Consumer Credit Underwriting: Communicate and negotiate with each applicant the terms under which consumer credit underwriting has determined that credit will be extended, including costs, repayment method, and schedule, and collateral requirements.
  • Community Involvement: Become active in the community through membership in business organizations, community events, and/or non-profit organizations, advancing the reputation of Simmons Bank.
  • Teamwork and Goal Achievement: Meet individual goals and contribute to a team-oriented environment to ensure departmental and bank-wide goals are met, setting and achieving challenging goals without direct supervision, and contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including completion of required compliance training.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, or relevant job experience, is preferred. One to two years of lending experience with basic sales skills is also preferred.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Well-developed interpersonal and negotiating skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic accounting, credit, and sales skills, detail-oriented, and proven ability to multi-task.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office programs and lending computer software.
  • Certifications and Licenses: NMLS certification is required.
