Position Overview: We are currently looking for a Product Engineer (CPP). The Customer Product Planning (CPP) role focuses on marketing innovative technologies to clients and securing new business opportunities. This position ensures that our proposals align with customer expectations and offer the most competitive pricing. A comprehensive understanding of safety technologies and associated costs—engineering, manufacturing, materials, logistics, and packaging—is essential. This role will primarily focus on Seatbelt Restraint Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Business Development:
- Collaborate with clients to gather project planning details for upcoming business proposals.
- Proactively create initial assumption Bills of Materials (BOMs) based on project details or historical data to expedite the quoting process.
- Ensure that the technical aspects of new business proposals receive customer approval and work with clients to establish qualification plans for new technologies.
- Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to enhance our competitive edge.
- Quotation Analysis and Technical Proposal Development:
- Conduct prompt reviews of customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and develop detailed technical proposals that meet customer specifications.
- Facilitate comprehensive quotation reviews with cross-functional teams.
- Gain a thorough understanding of all costs involved in the New Cost Model (NCM) and support formal quotation reviews.
- Assist in any Customer Technical Reviews related to new business opportunities.
Technology Promotion:
- Stay informed about current and emerging technologies and effectively communicate these to clients.
- Engage customers early in the technical development process to gather feedback on new technology trends.
- Relay customer insights to the Core Engineering Team for consideration in future product development.
- Identify technology gaps in relation to customer needs and communicate these to the engineering team.
- Coordinate technology showcases with clients, involving relevant team members as needed.
Product Strategy:
- Maintain a clear Product Road Map and Technology Gap Analysis for each client.
- Ensure alignment of Product Planning with Sales, Core Engineering, and Operations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to conduct necessary R&D Project/Concept Validation Testing to support new technology qualifications.
Client Engagement:
- Foster positive and lasting relationships with clients.
- Address any issues or technical gaps related to new business proposals to ensure alignment with client expectations.
- Conduct regular visits to key clients to strengthen relationships.
- Serve as the primary contact for clients regarding new business projects and technology requirements.
Ethics and Compliance:
- Lead by example and promote a work environment that values respect and open communication.
- Be a resource for colleagues regarding the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Proactively seek opportunities to discuss ethical practices and address challenges.
- Ensure adherence to the limits of your authority and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
- Familiarize yourself with the company's Ethics and Compliance Policies and report any potential violations.
Qualifications:
- Experience with global safety regulations and consumer ratings.
- Strong self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively.
- Effective project and time management skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety product development.
