Customer Overview

Our client is an Intelligence Agency (IA) that provides exceptional geospatial intelligence, delivering a crucial advantage to policymakers, military personnel, intelligence experts, and emergency responders. This agency enables critical actions and shapes decisions that affect our world through the essential discipline of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT). It stands as a unique blend of intelligence and combat support agency, leading the world in timely, relevant, accurate, and actionable GEOINT. While GEOINT is the core data within this agency, all produced, collected, and stored data plays a supportive role in daily operations.

Program Overview

This is a thrilling opportunity to join a significant GEOINT-based contract focused on search and dissemination across the Intelligence Community. Hosted in a cloud environment, this system comprises a suite of computer services that enables users to search and discover various types of GEOINT data from multiple sources, both internal and external. The system includes several components supported by two task orders: one for maintaining existing services and another for engineering and architecture, providing software engineering, DevOps, and site reliability services to modernize and expedite the system's future.

Team Overview

Blackspoke is a trusted collaborator within a larger network of strategic partners. This contract has a full five-year duration remaining, with work conducted in secure environments.

Your Responsibilities:
As a Geospatial Software Engineer, you will:

  • Design, develop, assess, plan, and test software applications.
  • Engage in requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, service development, integration, testing, and evaluation across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG), and Federal Agencies.
  • Conduct planning and analysis of user requirements, architecture traceability, procedures, and challenges to automate or enhance existing systems while reviewing cloud service capabilities, workflows, and scheduling constraints.
  • Develop solution designs based on requirement analysis and emerging technologies, mentoring junior engineers in these skill sets.
  • Support the analysis and allocation of requirements to system architecture components and executing programs.
  • Assist in systems integration activities.
  • Contribute to Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
  • Support strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design.
  • Tackle complex challenges, lead teams, and work independently under the guidance of Senior Systems Engineers.
  • Create sustainable software applications with efficient branching strategies, accurate estimations, and well-maintained code repositories.
  • Participate as a member of an agile scrum team, engaging in regular agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, planning sessions, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Implement requirements from the product backlog.
  • Assist in drafting backlog requirements/user stories.
  • Utilize a modern DevSecOps approach in software application development.
  • Develop and modify applications, software, services, utilities, interfaces, and IT systems that support analysts and systems.

Qualifications (Required):

  • 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or a related field, or 4 additional years of experience in information technology.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as BASH, CSS, DOS_BATCH, HTML, Java, JavaScript, PHP, PYTHON, SQL, XML, and indexing/search technologies.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Technical certifications such as Network +, Security +, Oracle, or specialization in Software Development or Cloud Computing.
