Job Summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Development Professional to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for implementing educational programming, ensuring the safety of program participants, and promoting a fun and inclusive environment for all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement educational programming in areas such as STEAM, mentoring, athletics, literacy, and activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants while in care.
  • Encourage participation in clubhouse community events and promote membership in the Clubhouse through programs, services, and outreach activities.
  • Participate in monthly incentive programs that focus on literacy, STEM, Art, Mentoring, Athletics, and Social/Emotional Learning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, tutors, and students to participate in an ongoing education improvement program.
  • Promote a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all ages.
  • Provide input on department programs, in partnership with the approval of the Program Manager.
  • Report any maintenance and operation concerns of the department's physical property to ensure Club member safety at all times.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2500 hours of experience working with children.
  • An interest in a variety of youth programs, including technology, art, sports, STEM, mentoring, and recreation.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • The ability to perform the usual and customary methods of the job, which require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, and significant fine fingered dexterity.
  • The ability to tolerate environmental conditions, including air conditioning, heat, dust, fumes, noise, and close quarters.
  • Ability to perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership and supervisors.
Onboarding Process
  • Must complete a health physical and TB test.
  • Three letters of reference are required upon hiring.
  • Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151, and NSOR letter are required.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification within 45 days of hire.
  • 10 hours of DHS training (can be done virtually).
  • Attend CPR and Pediatric First Aid training within the first 90 days of hire.
