Vantage Specialty Chemicals is seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of capital and non-capital projects in support of our manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities- Project Development: Provide project development skills, including capital estimation, project justification, budget management, capital appropriations, and writing detailed engineering and safety reviews.
- Project Implementation: Complete project implementation, including project execution, contractor supervision, startup support, coordination of projects with site departments, and document control.
- Training and Development: Develop and assist in delivering training to site personnel on new or modified systems and equipment.
- Operations Support: Provide support to operations and maintenance as needed in day-to-day activities.
- Technical Guidance: Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
- Process Optimization: Specify and organize plant trails or laboratory experiments necessary to establish optimal process parameters in terms of safety, quality, operating, efficiency, and capacity.
- Manufacturing Standards: Establish manufacturing standards, monitoring actual plant performance, and make proposals for improvement. Administer the cost efficiency improvement program.
- Equipment Commissioning: Assist in commissioning of new plant equipment and in troubleshooting of existing processes.
- Reliability and Maintenance: Contribute to development of reliability and maintenance programs for new and modified equipment.
- Process Improvements: Drive process improvements using lean technologies.
- Safety and Compliance: Assist in HAZOP studies and safety-based facility upgrades.
- Financial Management: Work with finance on capital budgeting, forecasting, and the closeout of financial segments of projects.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in relevant project/process engineering.
- Skills and Attributes: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, ability to troubleshoot and develop solutions, working knowledge of power distribution systems, PLCs, and automation, mechanical systems, utilities, and reliability.
