ESIS Claims Representative, WC

As a Claims Representative, WC, you will play a critical role in investigating and settling workers' compensation claims promptly and equitably. You will work under the direction of the Claims Team Leader to ensure that claims are handled in accordance with established best practices guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate claims to determine the extent of liability and the company's obligation to the insured.
- Conduct interviews and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, and other relevant parties.
- Evaluate facts to determine the extent of liability and recommend settlements or denials of claims.
- Prepare reports on investigation, settlements, and denials of claims.
- Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes to the Team Leader.
- Review progress and status of claims with the Team Leader and discuss problems and suggested remedial actions.
- Settle claims promptly and equitably.
- Obtain releases, proofs of loss, or compensation agreements and issue company drafts in payments for claims.
- Inform claimants, insureds/customers, or attorneys of denial of claim when applicable.
- Establish and maintain strong customer relations.
- 2-5 years' experience handling claims in a relevant line of business.
- Basic knowledge of claims handling and familiarity with claims terminologies.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with claimants, customers, insureds, brokers, attorneys, etc. in a positive manner concerning losses.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Knowledge of company products, services, coverages, and policy limits, along with awareness of the company's claims best practices.
- Knowledge of applicable state and local laws.
