POSITION OVERVIEW:

The role entails supporting the execution of all functions within the Poker Room, ensuring that Team Member performance during shifts aligns with the organization's policies, objectives, and gaming regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following outlines the primary duties and responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary by management. All responsibilities must be executed in compliance with Tribal, Federal, and other relevant regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.

  • In the absence of the Poker Manager, takes on full accountability for the Poker Room's operations.
  • Guarantees a superior level of guest service and satisfaction is consistently achieved and upheld within the Poker Room.
  • Authorizes the initiation and conclusion of gaming activities. Oversees staffing levels, managing overtime and requesting additional support as required based on business volume and guest demands.
  • Facilitates and manages multi-table tournaments and daily promotions. Keeps departmental records updated and generates daily performance reports.
  • Ensures the security of all areas; makes immediate operational decisions as necessary; addresses issues and challenges as they occur within the room.
  • Approves player rewards in accordance with the established comp matrix.
  • Ensures adherence to Gaming regulations, company policies, gaming procedures, and guest service standards; enforces compliance with all Tribal, federal, and state regulations.
  • Welcomes guests to the Poker Room, fostering rapport through personalized service.
  • Observes and reports any suspicious or unusual activities.
  • Maintains adequate inventory supplies and oversees the secure distribution of gaming materials in line with gaming regulations.
  • Upholds the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Responsible for consistent attendance as outlined in the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Attendance Policy.
  • Must present a polished and professional appearance.
  • Maintains departmental records and logs, ensuring effective communication with peers to guarantee consistency in Poker Room operations from shift to shift.
  • Exemplifies the standards of FireKeepers Casino Hotel.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

Implements supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. This includes maintaining adequate staffing levels, interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Directly oversees all Poker Room Dealers and subordinate staff, ensuring continuous observation of guest service standards and the technical performance of Poker Room personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the ability to successfully perform each essential duty and responsibility. FireKeepers reserves the right to verify the adequacy of a candidate's qualifications through interviews, testing, and other methods.

Requirements typically include a High School diploma or GED, three years of progressive experience in a Poker Room, experience with multi-table tournaments, and a comprehensive understanding of Tournament Directors Association (TDA) rules. Proficiency with casino computer rating and tracking systems is essential. Candidates must have a strong grasp of generally accepted poker rules and the ability to apply them consistently. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication is essential.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and to work with fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

While executing the duties of this position, a Team Member is regularly required to communicate effectively. The Team Member is also regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally, the Team Member may need to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, or perform other physical activities. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is conducted throughout various areas of the facility, where noise levels may vary from quiet to loud based on business activity. The ability to work in a smoke-filled environment is necessary.
