Komatsu is a leading provider of innovative solutions for the construction, mining, forestry, forklift, and industrial machinery markets. As a Benefits Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the health and wellness function of our Employee Benefits team.
Job OverviewThis role is based out of our headquarters office in Chicago, IL, with infrequent travel to Milwaukee for meetings with the broader HR and Benefits team members. The Benefits Assistant will perform administrative work, ensuring the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the Alight benefits system and providing vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the open enrollment process, distributing benefits enrollment materials and determining eligibility.
- Administer various employee benefits programs, including group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
- Conduct benefits orientations and explain benefits self-enrollment systems to new hires.
- Perform quality checks of benefits-related data and assist employees with benefits claim issues and plan changes.
- Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrators and ensure timely follow-up on claims when required.
- Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
- Associate degree in HR or a related field, with experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for education.
- Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
- Strong customer service mindset and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Two years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration (preferred).
- Proficient knowledge/experience in use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, DocuSign, and data entry.
