Job Summary:

Crew Life at Sea is seeking an experienced and skilled Executive Pastry Chef to lead our bakery team onboard our cruise ships. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the ship's bakery, including ordering ingredients, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with our Executive Chef to create and execute a variety of baked goods, desserts, and pastries that meet the highest quality standards and exceed our guests' expectations.
  • Team Management: Train and supervise a team of bakers, ensuring they adhere to company standards and follow proper food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the ordering and inventory of ingredients, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all baked goods are made to the highest quality standards and are visually appealing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as the dining room and room service, to ensure timely and efficient delivery of baked goods to guests.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on current food trends and incorporate them into the menu when appropriate.
  • Compliance: Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment, following all health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Head Baker or Executive Pastry Chef in a high-volume, fine dining establishment.
  • Culinary Degree: Culinary degree or equivalent experience in baking and pastry arts.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and train a team, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel Requirements: Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and obtain necessary travel documents.
