Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Level I

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist Level I to join our team in Palos Hills, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform high-quality ultrasound procedures, ensuring optimal patient care and safety. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain high-quality scans.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment as needed to perform procedures throughout the hospital.
  • Assist physicians with recommendations for optimal studies by suggesting technical factors for procedures.
  • Deliver patient care in accordance with department standards of continued quality improvement.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize appropriate phone etiquette and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Transport patients as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Document department records, including inventories of supplies and patient statistics.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assemble daily patient schedules.
  • Know and operate Hospital Information Computer Systems as required.
  • Secure pertinent patient history for each procedure to provide radiologists with adequate information.
  • Maintain positive guest relations and communicate effectively with patients, fellow employees, and other personnel.
  • Comply with established Accrediting Organization and hospital safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being.
  • Attend mandatory in-services and meetings.
  • Stay up-to-date with current ultrasound skills and new developments in the field.
Requirements:
  • ARDMS Registry eligibility.
  • Successful completion of ARDMS Registry within the first year of employment.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work odd hours, including late hours and on-call shifts.
  • Ability to respond to emergency call-backs in minimal time.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform lifting activities related to patients.
  • Exposure to radiation.
  • Ability to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to deal with extremely ill patients and communicate effectively with them.
Working Conditions:

The Ultrasound Technologist Level I will work in a fast-paced environment, often with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be able to adjust to flexible hours, work odd hours, and respond to emergency call-backs in minimal time. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods, perform lifting activities related to patients, and be exposed to radiation.
