Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Hickory Hills, Illinois.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform ultrasound procedures and provide exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ultrasound procedures on patients, ensuring optimal image quality and patient comfort.
  • Position and immobilize patients for procedures, using proper techniques to obtain high-quality scans.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment as required, to perform procedures throughout the hospital.
  • Assist physicians with recommendations for obtaining optimal studies, suggesting technical factors for procedures.
  • Document department records, including inventory of supplies and patient statistics, to ensure adequate supplies and proper patient records.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms, ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available, before performing procedures.
  • Secure pertinent medical history from patients, providing radiologists with adequate information for film interpretation.
  • Work closely with radiologists to ensure optimal outcomes for each procedure.
  • Comply with established hospital safety standards, ensuring patient and staff safety at all times.
  • Keep abreast of current skills and developments in the field of ultrasound.
  • Instruct and help students or fellow technologists orienting in ultrasound.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and eligible for ARDMS registry.
  • Possess high degree of technical knowledge to perform specialized ultrasound studies with little assistance from radiologists.
  • ARDMS Registered or ARDMS registry eligible if within 24 months of graduation from an approved sonography program.
  • CPR certification.
Working Conditions:
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours at minimal notice.
  • Ability to work odd hours (late hours on-call).
  • Ability to respond to emergency call back in minimal time.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to constantly view video display screen during exam.
  • Ability to perform lifting activities related to patients.
