Adult Military and Family Life Counselor

Junction City, Kansas, United States Leidos Full time

Leidos is seeking qualified licensed behavioral health professionals to become part of our Adult Military and Family Life Counseling (MFLC) team.

This role is crucial in providing support to U.S. military personnel and their families as they navigate significant life transitions associated with military service.

The Adult Military and Family Life Counselor (Adult-MFLC) position presents a unique chance to play an essential role in delivering non-medical assistance, which encompasses counseling, consultation, and outreach to service members, their families, and eligible staff.

Our non-medical counseling approach is proactive, focusing on addressing and providing solution-oriented strategies to challenges before they escalate.

Military personnel, spouses, and family members encounter distinct emotional and situational hurdles due to the demands of military life. This is an opportunity for you to connect with them at critical moments when your support is most impactful.

Key Responsibilities of the Adult-MFLC:

Provide face-to-face counseling to military service members and their families (individuals, couples, and families). Engage in activities with service members, military spouses, and families; offer coaching, guidance, and support to installation staff; and demonstrate behavior management techniques for staff and military family members.

Conduct presentations for service members, military families, and military leadership at various military-connect events.
Encourage creativity and positivity through approved materials.
Establish rapport with parents and families by participating in installation and community events.
Assist with transition adjustments, such as adapting to a new school or home.
Participate in regular in-service training or other assigned contract activities.
Communicate information regarding trends and issues at assigned installations to Team Leads.

Benefits for Adult-MFLC:
No insurance claims to process.
No progress notes required.
No treatment plans to create. An iPad will be provided for easy digital reporting, ensuring no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) is included. Paid federal holidays.
Access to free and unlimited behavioral healthcare training.
Reimbursement for job-related license renewal fees.
Eligibility to enroll in a 401K retirement plan.
Centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence, offering best practices, expert speakers, and state-of-the-art resources.

Additional Duties May Include:

Responding to urgent situations in various locations on a military installation. Navigating long distances to both indoor and outdoor settings, maneuvering through rugged terrain, and working in various weather conditions.

Traveling to locations outside of a military base in diverse physical environments.

Due to the nature of working on military installations or related sites, counselors may need to adhere to specific site-related requirements to operate at designated locations.

Work Environment:

As directed by the Department of Defense, duties are performed in multiple indoor settings (approximately 60%) and outdoor environments (approximately 40%).

The indoor settings are located within a military installation governed by the Department of Defense.

The outdoor environments often involve traversing uneven grassy, gravel, and/or dirt areas, ascending/descending stairs, and exposure to varying weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD). Licensure to practice independently (LCSW, MFT, LPCC, Psychologist) in any U.S. State.

Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active passport valid for at least six months beyond the assignment's conclusion.

Must successfully pass a basic background check for employment, a Child National Agency Check, and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance, commonly referred to as a Public Trust clearance.
