Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Tunnel Ventilation and Fire Protection to bolster our Transportation Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultancy in the design, optimization, and oversight of Ventilation Fire & Life Safety systems for various facilities, including transit and highway tunnels.
  • Create comprehensive design criteria manuals, technical documentation, calculations, and specifications.
  • Develop innovative ventilation strategies to ensure safety and compliance using advanced simulation tools.
  • Optimize ventilation systems and layout, ensuring effective equipment access and maintenance plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate modeling of tunnel networks and facilities.
  • Support construction administration and commissioning activities.
  • Contribute to the growth of the tunnel ventilation practice through strategic development and recruitment efforts.
  • Mentor junior engineers to enhance the team's technical capabilities.
  • Publish research and technical articles in recognized conferences and journals.
  • Lead technical client engagements and drive business development initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in at least one state.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards for tunnel ventilation and fire safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fifteen years of experience in tunnel ventilation and underground structures.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of various ventilation techniques and CFD modeling.
  • Active participation in professional organizations and contributions to technical publications.
  • Ability to work remotely with occasional travel as required.
