Job Overview

WSP is seeking a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our dynamic team. Engage in diverse projects with our Buildings Systems Team and contribute to an organization dedicated to meeting client needs and overcoming challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough analysis and compilation of data from various sources including site surveys, technical drawings, and reports to inform project development and design.
  • Execute professional plumbing engineering tasks, performing inspections and research on site conditions, equipment, and systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Incorporate innovative technologies and modeling techniques into design processes, ensuring the effective installation and operation of plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and planners to ensure project specifications are met, including cost estimation and resource allocation.
  • Create detailed visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings and analyses.
  • Uphold quality control standards, ensuring accuracy in measurements, calculations, and reporting.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of small to medium-sized projects, contributing to technical reports and presentations.
  • Conduct engineering studies to gather insights on design and construction challenges, aiding in future project planning.
  • Support the development of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Work in partnership with other professionals on various funded improvement projects.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in plumbing and mechanical design.
  • Professional certifications such as ASPE Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD), Engineer in Training (EIT), or NY State Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing and fire protection systems, including water supply, drainage, and fire suppression systems.
  • Experience in planning, design, and construction management of building and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in technical writing and familiar with design software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and apply technical knowledge to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to accommodate project-specific schedules and occasional travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Completion of OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
