Job Overview

BETA Group, Inc. is in search of a skilled Transportation Project Engineer to enhance our team. This role is essential in executing traffic and transportation design, crafting contract plans and documentation, and guiding junior engineers. The selected candidate will engage in collaboration across various service sectors, support business development initiatives, and coordinate with clients on projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct traffic engineering design, including traffic analysis, signal design, phasing and timing, modeling, and data collection programs.
  • Develop engineering plans for traffic signals, intersection layouts, pavement markings, signage, and temporary traffic control.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff members.
  • Prepare contract documents, reports, and cost estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with design teams and offer technical assistance.

The preferred location for this position is BETA's Lincoln office, with the flexibility to work from other office locations. BETA also supports a hybrid work model, allowing employees to work remotely up to two days a week.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in traffic and transportation engineering.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT) certification.
  • Strong background in traffic and transportation engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in traffic modeling software such as Synchro and SimTraffic.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microstation, and OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, and RIDOT design guidelines.
  • Ability to collect field data and perform asset inspections.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and conduct fieldwork in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Vissim is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer license is preferred.
