Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at South Shore Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical departments, including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and OBGYN.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and complete thorough chart reviews to ensure accurate medication refills.
  • Review laboratory results, determine necessary lab tests, and order tests as needed.
  • Refill medications by pending orders to the appropriate provider and reviewing refill limits according to SSMC guidelines.
  • Communicate with secretarial and laboratory staff to schedule appointments and relay patient information.
  • Document patient interactions and medication refills in the EMR.
  • Utilize smart phrases correctly in the EMR and initiate medication refills in MyHealth.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in a timely manner and consistently complete at least 60 prescriptions per 8-hour shift.
  • Function as a team member, seeking help when needed, and communicate critical patient information to the nurse team leader, triage nurse, and/or provider.
  • Retrieve refill information from voicemail lines, patient calls, pharmacy requests, and patient renewal requests within a 48-hour timeframe.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new employees and adhere to SSMC policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School degree or equivalent required; background or experience in a medical field or pharmacy field preferred.
  • Completion of state or national pharmacy certification test preferred but not required.
  • One year of experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • Valid state or national pharmacy technician certification preferred.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position working 32 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm. The position is remote after training is completed.
