Fire Safety Systems Technicians are vital in maintaining the safety and operational efficiency of our Smart Buildings. Your responsibilities will include servicing, maintaining, installing, programming, starting up, and commissioning advanced fire alarm and sprinkler systems, which encompass fire safety, mass notification, detectors, and field peripherals. Why is this role crucial? As a Fire Safety Systems Technician, you will represent Siemens, and your expertise along with regular customer interactions will be key in ensuring the safety of their facilities and occupants.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the commissioning of new fire and life safety systems during construction, ensuring smooth integration.
  • Conduct testing and inspections of existing fire and life safety systems.
  • Collaborate with mentors, Lead Technicians, and Team Leaders to plan work effectively.
  • Complete commissioning tasks within established timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of time and expenses.
  • Be available for overtime as required.
  • Perform thorough testing and inspections for systems under maintenance contracts.
  • Quickly respond to, troubleshoot, and execute necessary repairs to uphold system functionality.
  • Document activities completed, deferred, or needing further action or materials.
  • Identify code violations and non-conformance issues, ensuring compliance with required standards.
  • Work alongside mentors, Lead Technicians, and Supervisors to strategize tasks efficiently.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated electro-mechanical aptitude (based on prior experience and/or education) and proficiency in PC/software skills; adept in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with network components and management of workstation and server operating systems.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments around mechanical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, and working in various conditions; proficient in using hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, and tablets; capable of distinguishing wire types/colors, and lifting equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 1 within 18 months.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continuous and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license with minimal violations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED; an Associate degree in electronics or a related field is preferred.
  • 6+ months of experience in installing commercial Fire/Life Safety equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend design and construction documents.
