Virginia Commonwealth University is committed to providing excellent patient care, education, and research opportunities. We are currently seeking a talented HR professional to join our team as an HR Administrator for the School of Medicine Clinical Departments.
About the Position- This role involves overseeing day-to-day HR functions for the department, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, benefits, compensation, employee relations, payroll/timekeeping, and terminations.
- You will serve as a subject matter expert and internal resource for HR policy and procedures, working closely with Division Chairs and Department Administrators to initiate and complete recruitment processes.
- This position requires strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain and communicate HR policies with respect to leaves, recruiting, compensation, etc., to department staff and faculty.
- Oversee departmental compliance with HR policy and procedure and other department-level HR initiatives.
- Attend required training sessions/meetings, including HR partners, and update Department Chair, Administrator, and Financial Manager on all HR-related activities and policy/procedural changes.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in human resources management, preferably in a higher education environment or medical academic environment.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification desired.
