Human Resources Specialist

This is a critical role within the Air National Guard Units, responsible for providing expert human resources support to commanders and staff members. The successful candidate will serve as an advisor on human resources programs, interpreting policy and providing procedural guidance to ensure effective implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide guidance and assistance on unit programs, including recruitment, retention, and talent management.
- Develop and implement human resources policies and procedures to support unit goals and objectives.
- Conduct staff visits and training sessions to promote a full understanding of human resources programs and policies.
- Prepare and maintain personnel records, including position descriptions and manual records.
- Manage personnel classification and usage, quality force management, and personnel records.
- Operate a computer and use varied computer programs to support human resources functions.
The ideal candidate will possess a basic working knowledge of National Guard missions, organizations, and personnel programs. They will have a basic knowledge and experience of personnel programs gained in a classroom or as an on-the-job trainee. The candidate should have knowledge-based competency of human resources business elements and be able to discuss terminology, concepts, principles, and issues related to this competency.
Experience in using references and resource materials, as well as program functions such as maintaining personnel records, counseling, or classification and assignments, is essential. The candidate should also have experience in operating a computer and using varied computer programs.
The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accomplishment of technical support work in each of the functional areas within this program area. They will also be responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all aspects of the human resources employment program.
