Job Summary

The Idaho Division of Human Resources is seeking a skilled Hearing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Commission of Pardons and Parole, you will play a critical role in supporting the hearing process and ensuring the smooth operation of our administrative functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take and edit hearing minutes, recording hearing decisions and gathering information for Parole Commissioner Reviews
  • Interact with members of the public, explaining hearing procedures, issues, and appeal rights as needed
  • Perform administrative duties to enable the Commissioners and Hearing Manager to function effectively
  • Train staff in appropriate hearing conduct and the preparation of information for hearings
  • Coordinate and act as liaison with other agencies, concerned parties, or sections within the department regarding appeals/hearings processes
Requirements
  • Some knowledge of legal terminology, gained through actual work, college, or volunteer experience
  • Some knowledge of administrative law proceedings, typically gained through experience in a work, college, or volunteer setting
  • Some knowledge of automated record systems, gained through one year of work experience using these systems
  • Experience researching and interpreting laws, typically gained through one year of experience reviewing for compliance with laws, regulations, or policies and explaining discrepancies or explaining to others how laws, regulations, or policies apply to specific situations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of computer applications, typically gained through successful completion of computer applications courses and at least one year of applied work experience
  • Experience taking hearing minutes and composing and editing other complex documents, typically gained through two or more years of experience where a major responsibility was composing official correspondence, reports, research papers, and other complex documents
