Candidates must hold or be eligible for a Licensed Practical Nurse license in New York State.

Qualifications for Transfer:
Candidates must currently hold a permanent position as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Position Overview: This role involves delivering direct nursing care to individuals with complex medical needs residing in a community-based setting.

Clinical supervision will be provided by a Registered Nurse, while administrative oversight will be managed by a Registered Nurse Supervisor.

The Practical Nursing Specialist will be required to report to the designated base location on a regular basis. There is no reimbursement for travel between locations.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with nursing duties within the established scope of practice.

Ensure that all medications and treatments required during the shift are administered as prescribed, with accurate documentation.

Maintain necessary records and documentation.

Ensure that essential documents such as medication administration records, consents, and current prescriptions are up-to-date and accessible.

Oversee individuals requiring insulin administration and daily oral medications/treatments.
Provide first aid and monitor vital signs as necessary, reporting findings to the supervising Registered Nurse.

Act as a liaison between residential staff and the supervising Registered Nurse. Manage and organize supplies for the medication room and perform other assigned duties.

Additional Information: This position is part of a specialized hiring initiative aimed at filling critical roles in the healthcare sector.

Positions may be filled through a non-competitive appointment process, meaning no examination is required, but candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the role.

New hires will initially be appointed as temporary employees, with the opportunity to transition to permanent status and take promotional exams as eligible.

Employees hired under this initiative are expected to convert to permanent competitive status within a specified timeframe.

Preference will be given to current employees affected by organizational changes. All candidates must maintain eligibility for participation in relevant healthcare programs.
