The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and implementing and evaluating nursing and medical regimens in line with hospital policies and standards.

Demonstrating leadership and a commitment to professional development is essential.

Education and Experience Requirements: Candidates must have graduated from an accredited nursing program with at least an Associate's Degree in Nursing (required) or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).

Licensure and Certification Requirements:

  • Current and valid New York State Registered Nurse License (for NY facilities)
  • Current and valid Connecticut Registered Nurse License (for CT facilities)
  • New graduates may be considered for licensure at the discretion of the Chief Nursing Officer (CT only)
  • Preferred certifications include those endorsed by the American Nurses Association or the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, based on specialty.

Training Requirements:

  • BLS - Required upon hire
  • ACLS - Required for specific units
  • PALS - Required for pediatric areas
  • NRP - Required for maternal and neonatal care
  • Additional certifications as needed based on unit requirements

Working Conditions: The role demands significant manual dexterity and involves exposure to various occupational hazards.

Physical Effort: The position requires the ability to exert very heavy effort, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
