**Position Overview**
At Northern Dutchess Hospital, we are committed to providing exceptional healthcare services. Our network includes multiple hospital and outpatient locations, offering a range of primary and specialty care practices.
**Role Purpose:** The **Registered Nurse** is responsible for delivering direct patient care in alignment with the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards. This role involves collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure effective healthcare delivery. The Registered Nurse evaluates patient needs, develops care plans, and implements nursing interventions while adhering to hospital policies and standards.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. **Patient Assessment:**
a. Conduct thorough assessments and document detailed patient information, including care plans and outcomes.
b. Ensure accurate documentation for patient transfers and discharges as necessary.
- Administer medications following the five Rights of Medication Administration, while educating patients and families about their treatments.
- Oversee nursing care delivery and delegate tasks appropriately.
- **Safety Promotion:**
- Identify potential safety risks and adhere to hospital safety protocols.
- Conduct bedside shift reports and rounds with peers.
- Document nursing processes responsibly and ethically.
- Assess the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored instruction and evaluating their responses. **Culturally Competent Care:**
- Deliver patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity and maintains open communication. **Compliance and Growth:**
- Meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Engage in continuous learning and mentorship to enhance clinical skills. **Additional Duties:**
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned within the nursing scope of practice. **Qualifications:**
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree (required) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
**Licensure Requirements:**
- Valid New York State Registered Nurse License.
- Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse License (if applicable).
- New graduates may be considered at the discretion of the Chief Nursing Officer.
**Training Requirements:**
- Completion of required certifications such as BLS, ACLS, and others as specified for the role.
**Working Conditions:**
- Significant manual dexterity and physical effort required.
- Exposure to various environmental factors typical in healthcare settings.
