Role Purpose: The Clinical Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in alignment with the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards. This role involves collaboration with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and document findings, including care plans and interventions that reflect the patient's physical, mental, and emotional health.
- Administer medications safely, adhering to the five Rights of Medication Administration, and ensure effective communication with patients and families regarding their treatment.
- Coordinate nursing care delivery, supervising team members and delegating tasks appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying potential risks and implementing necessary interventions to mitigate them.
- Facilitate effective communication through bedside shift reports and rounds, ensuring continuity of care.
- Assess and address the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored instruction and evaluating their understanding.
- Deliver patient-centered care that respects cultural diversity and individual dignity.
- Engage in continuous professional development, seeking opportunities for learning and mentoring others.
- Perform additional duties as required within the nursing scope of practice.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree (required) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the relevant state.
- Certifications in specialized areas preferred, with completion of required training within specified timeframes.
Working Conditions:
- Manual dexterity and significant physical effort are required, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to various environmental factors is expected.
