Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Educator to instruct one or more sections of clinical courses within the College of Nursing for a designated semester.

Essential Functions

This role entails a professional commitment to the university and adherence to relevant university and nursing college policies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective clinical instruction to groups of 8-10 nursing students in various healthcare environments and simulation labs, focusing on critical skills and clinical judgment.
  • Maintaining compliance with FERPA regulations each semester.
  • Addressing student inquiries promptly and liaising with the clinical coordinator or program director as necessary.
  • Notifying the College HR Director, clinical coordinator, and undergraduate program director in advance of any clinical absences, along with a proposed plan for makeup hours.
  • Responding to university communications within 24 business hours during the teaching semester.
  • Meeting all credentialing requirements for the assigned practice environment, including health mandates, vaccinations, licensure, and CPR certification.
  • Following the nursing curriculum as outlined, adhering to the course syllabus, clinical objectives, assignments, and attendance policies.
  • Participating in scheduled Clinical Faculty Meetings and coordinating with the clinical course coordinator at least two to three times throughout the semester.
  • Submitting a completed clinical evaluation tool (CET) and course grades to the clinical course coordinator by the semester's conclusion.

Teaching schedules may vary each semester based on program needs, resource availability, and enrollment demand.

Qualified candidates will undergo background checks and credentialing processes prior to being considered for teaching assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess a valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing.

Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in nursing must enroll in a Master's Program within one year or obtain NLN Clinical Nurse Educator certification within the same timeframe to remain eligible for re-hire.

A minimum of two years of full-time nursing experience, or its equivalent, within the last five years, along with evidence of clinical competence in instructional roles, is required.

Demonstrated maintenance of expertise relevant to teaching responsibilities is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in nursing or a terminal degree is preferred.

Specializations in Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Community/Public Health Nursing are highly desirable.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

This position may require travel to various community locations and involves extended periods of walking and standing in healthcare settings.

Work Schedule

Clinical course schedules, including assignments in healthcare settings and simulation labs, will be coordinated by the clinical course coordinator and provided to instructors prior to the semester.

Clinical educators may be assigned to teach in one or more clinical course sections as agreed upon for the semester.

Salary Information

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
