Infusion Center Operating Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:45 am to 6:15 pm, and Saturdays 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.


Work Schedule:
Per-Diem, up to 2-3 days per week, 10 hours per day, with occasional Saturdays.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer intravenous and injection medications according to written or verbal medical directives and infusion protocols.
  • Coordinate and engage in various patient care activities related to the examination and treatment of patients, including the infusion of IV medications such as chemotherapy and MRI imaging agents.
  • Prepare IV medications, including chemotherapy mixtures.
  • Assist in MRI procedures by providing oral sedation to patients as required.
  • Coordinate scheduling with the Infusion Secretary.

Evaluate patient care with a focus on patient responses; monitor the providers' care plans based on patient assessments, medical records, and other relevant information; maintain communication with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.

Contribute to patient care through education for patients and their families, distributing resource materials, and providing community service recommendations and referrals as necessary.

May be required to assist with bio-hazard cleanup (e.g., restroom, waiting area, examination room) following universal precautions.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • Active New York State nursing license, free of restrictions
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Essential Skills:

  • Experience with initiating IVs
  • Strong telephone assessment capabilities
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills to assess needs, provide information, instruct, and offer emotional support efficiently.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, organizational, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to address and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in all interactions with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Neurology experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in high-volume phone triage is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to quickly learn electronic medical records systems are preferred.

Compensation:
Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range, with rates commensurate with experience.
