The Sanitation Technician is tasked with maintaining sanitary conditions of equipment, ensuring cleanliness of floors and drains, and upholding cleanliness standards throughout the facility using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals, in accordance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). This role is under the supervision of the QA Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of the plant, including the removal of waste from production areas and proper disposal of recyclables.
  • Assist in the cleanup of spills and support production activities as needed.
  • Execute sanitation tasks as outlined in the Master Sanitation Cleaning Schedule and by the Department Manager, ensuring compliance with food safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Collaborate with production staff to conduct end-of-week cleaning processes, including cleaning in place (CIP) of equipment and thorough cleaning of production lines.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of machinery and equipment as required.
  • Keep accurate sanitation records in line with SSOPs.
  • Assist in training new staff once adequately trained.
  • Oversee facility cleaning and sanitation protocols.
  • Participate in monthly food safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Monitor chemical inventory and report low stock to the QA supervisor.
  • Ensure proper labeling and storage of chemicals, maintaining an orderly chemical storage area.
  • Refill hand soap, sanitizer, and paper towel dispensers as necessary.
  • May be required to conduct taste tests of products as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn related responsibilities.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Three months of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the food or beverage industry or a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial cleaning chemicals and sanitation processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and train others.
  • Demonstrated credibility and integrity.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
