The Sanitation Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining sanitary conditions across the facility. Responsibilities include ensuring that equipment is clean, floors and drains are properly maintained, and that cleanliness standards are upheld using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemicals, in accordance with Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs). This position involves assisting with the cleaning of production equipment, product lines, and tanks as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the plant, including the removal of waste from production areas and the operation of floor scrubbers.
  • Assist in the cleanup of spills and support production teams during changeovers as needed.
  • Execute sanitation tasks as outlined in the Master Sanitation Cleaning Schedule and by the Department Manager, completing assigned actions from food safety audits.
  • Collaborate with production staff to conduct end-of-week cleaning procedures, including cleaning in place (CIP) for various equipment.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of machinery as required.
  • Keep accurate sanitation records in compliance with SSOPs.
  • Once trained, assist in onboarding new employees.
  • Oversee facility cleaning and sanitation processes.
  • Participate in monthly food safety and housekeeping audits.
  • Monitor chemical inventories and report low stock to the QA supervisor.
  • Ensure proper labeling and storage of chemicals, maintaining an orderly chemical storage area.
  • Regularly check and refill hand soap, sanitizer, and paper towel dispensers throughout the facility.
  • Taste testing of products may be required as part of the sanitation process.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to learn responsibilities related to sanitation.
  • Capability to work independently.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Three months of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the food or beverage industry or a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial cleaning chemicals and processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and train team members.
  • Demonstrated credibility and integrity.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
