Role Objective:

The Lead Teller Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the operations of the Teller team by managing schedules, delegating responsibilities, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues. This position also supports complex transactions and sensitive client matters while explaining and enforcing policies and procedures. The Lead Teller Coordinator directly supervises the teller line at the designated branch and serves as the direct supervisor for Teller and Senior Teller roles.

Byline Bank employees are expected to occasionally assist at other branch locations to ensure adequate staffing. A demonstrated flexibility in scheduling is essential, along with a willingness to embrace new ideas and identify opportunities for process enhancements. Adherence to the Byline Bank dress code is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Development and Leadership

  • Identifies coaching opportunities for team members and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Assesses training needs for Teller personnel.
  • Exhibits strong delegation skills for tasks and assignments.
  • Ensures adherence to guidelines in the Byline Bank Teller Training Manual.
  • Actively participates in branch meetings and contributes to discussions on various topics.
  • Assists team in recognizing and facilitating cross-selling opportunities.
  • Leads by example, showcasing exceptional customer service skills and compliance with all policies.
  • Encourages open communication among staff members.
  • Engages in motivational supervisory practices to inspire peak performance.

Sales and Service

  • Guides staff to meet established production targets.
  • Communicates weekly branch goals and objectives to team members.
  • Demonstrates commitment to achieving customer service and sales standards.
  • Occasionally involved in delivering check orders and endorsement stamps to clients.
  • Maintains positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Identifies and promotes cross-selling opportunities.

Operational Duties

  • Assists in weekly scheduling of Tellers, verifies time sheet accuracy, and prepares payroll documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with dual control policies.
  • Completes monthly branch certifications to summarize audits and operational duties accurately.
  • Maintains appropriate supply levels and follows requisition procedures.
  • Ensures Tellers balance their drawers daily in accordance with bank policies.
  • Upholds strict adherence to all monetary policies and balancing procedures.
  • Establishes ongoing communication with management.
  • Ensures compliance with the Byline Bank Branch Survival Guide.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Teller experience is required; experience as a Senior Teller is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience is required.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in personal banking (opening and servicing customer accounts) is advantageous.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English or Polish/English is preferred for select locations.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred; previous retail experience is also advantageous.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, along with occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of hand-eye coordination is necessary for operating office equipment. Strong oral and auditory communication skills are required for interpersonal interactions and communication through automated devices.
