This role functions as the Lead Supply Chain Coordinator (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) sectors within the Logistics Service of the Veterans Affairs system.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must fulfill all prerequisites by the specified closing date.


Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current Federal employees must have held a GS grade within the past 52 weeks to meet time-in-grade criteria.

For a GS-07 role, candidates should have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 indicating time-in-grade eligibility must accompany the application materials.

Specialized Experience:

Candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the typical career progression for this occupation.

Examples of specialized experience may include, but are not limited to:

- Planning and coordinating tasks for other personnel;
- Establishing departmental priorities;
- Overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials for a complex medical facility;
- Maintaining inventory at various locations;
- Monitoring expiration dates;
- Ensuring timely delivery of supplies;
- Training new staff and addressing inquiries regarding local processes and procedures;
- Ensuring proper storage of supplies and materials;
- Resolving logistical issues and providing guidance to others;
- Making recommendations for enhancing work productivity and quality.

You will be evaluated on the following competencies as part of the assessment process for this position:


Technical Competence:

Utilizes knowledge gained through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform job functions; comprehends and evaluates technical information related to the role; advises others on technical matters.

Plans, allocates, coordinates, and supervises work assignments of team members; assesses work performance and provides constructive feedback; ensures that staff are selected, utilized, and developed appropriately, and treated equitably.

Engages and communicates with clients and customers to meet their expectations, demonstrating a commitment to quality service.


Technology Application:

Effectively employs machines, tools, or equipment; utilizes computers and software applications to analyze and communicate information accurately.


Reasoning:

Identifies rules, principles, or relationships that clarify facts, data, or other information; analyzes information to draw accurate conclusions.


Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

Work is primarily conducted within a supply office and distribution points, predominantly using an automated inventory system for inventory management, processing orders, and distributing supplies.
Responsible for the storage and distribution of supplies to both primary and secondary inventory locations, as well as within bulk supply areas.
Physical tasks may include standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and pushing/pulling supply carts, with the ability to lift supplies up to 50 pounds.

Work is mainly in a supply office and distribution points that support the storage and distribution of supplies.
Frequent interruptions occur throughout the day due to telephone and personal contacts with individuals requiring information, guidance, or problem resolution.

Protective clothing is worn to prevent exposure to hazardous materials; hair covers, shoe covers, and gloves are utilized as necessary when delivering supplies into clean/sterile areas and managing inventory verification.

Physical dispersion of the facility may necessitate deliveries over uneven terrain and/or in adverse weather conditions.
