Job Overview

The Financial Operations Manager is responsible for independently overseeing the accounting department within a well-established and expanding product design and manufacturing firm. This role emphasizes accuracy and accountability while addressing discrepancies in daily operations. The position is primarily focused on bookkeeping, with opportunities to leverage analytical skills for the growth of both the company and the manager. This role is crafted to offer leadership while ensuring a healthy work/life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the complete accounting cycle, operating the department independently with support from an outsourced accounting contractor for overflow and emergencies.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and expense reconciliations.
  • Coordinate purchase orders and invoices with the production team, ensuring alignment between received products and billed invoices.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing department for inquiries and adjustments related to billing.
  • Oversee daily and month-end closing activities during the financial close process.
  • Review and authorize bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reports, and variance analyses.
  • Facilitate communication and responses to internal teams.
  • Provide monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare calculations for monthly distributions and initiate payment requests.
  • Deliver weekly cash position reports to ownership and manage payment processes, including wire and ACH requests.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to develop optimal solutions that support business growth while assisting other departments with training, auditing, and development.
  • Utilize an ERP system effectively and maintain clear communication with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Follow both verbal and written instructions diligently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Over five years of experience managing accounting functions in a production environment.
  • At least two years of experience in the product engineering or manufacturing sector.
  • Proficient in generating reports and understanding manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., GSS, SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and expense reconciliations.
  • Desirable soft skills include confidence, stability, and capability.
