Job Summary and Qualifications

We are in search of a highly skilled and empathetic RN to provide outstanding patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering direct nursing care to critically ill newborns requiring specialized attention.

Key Responsibilities:

As a registered nurse in the NICU, you will provide patient-centered nursing care to infants who may be premature or suffering from serious health conditions beyond low birth weight, such as infections, congenital anomalies, or life-threatening illnesses necessitating continuous monitoring and potential surgical intervention.

Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, healthcare providers, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric surgeons, IBCLC lactation consultants, and patient care staff, you will administer standard medications, conduct tests, monitor and document vital signs, track nutritional intake, and more.

Utilizing computerized documentation systems, you will observe, record, and communicate patient conditions.

As your patient approaches discharge, you will educate caregivers and coordinate discharge planning with the healthcare team.

In your interactions with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other stakeholders, you will uphold cultural and diversity awareness, among other responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required.
- Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification preferred.
