Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

We are in search of a dedicated and empathetic RN to provide outstanding care in our 24-bed maternal-newborn unit. In this capacity, you will deliver direct nursing services to new mothers post-delivery, addressing both standard care and postpartum complications such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and hypertension, as well as routine care for healthy infants. If you seek a collaborative and supportive obstetric environment, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patient-focused nursing care to mothers post-delivery, educating them on postpartum expectations and potential complications.
  • Provide nursing care to newborns and engage in family education, preparing new mothers for infant care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, obstetricians, perinatologists, lactation consultants, and support staff to enhance patient care and education.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions effectively using computerized systems.
  • Coordinate discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain cultural and diversity awareness in interactions with patients, visitors, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or a valid Multistate Compact License.
  • Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience in maternal-infant care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
